Spicy Sichuan food in Sydney City 蜀香坊

Last weekend my friends and I felt some flavorsome Chinese food. Sichuan food is definitely one of the best choice of the night.

Spicy Sichuan restaurant started at the heart of Glebe quite few years back and now expanded to inner city on Cunningham Street (a very hidden small lane, opposite world square near Quest hotel).
We went to the Cunningham street despite the difficulty of finding a parking. Level one of the restaurant is Sichuan hotpot, level two is A la Carte.

The place is quite popular, don't forget to book before you plan your Friday or Saturday out with your friends. (number is at the end of this blog)

First stop:  Chinese Cold noodle with chilli sauce
A must order dish when you go to Sichuan restaurant (at least that's for me).  One of the famous and most commonly selling at street stands of Sichuan cities, especially great in summer. Despite the spiciness, still one of their favorite side dish.

If you are not a fan of chilli, do tell the waiter. Each dish has a level of spiciness indication by the small chilli sign on the menu.

Entree - Jelly Fish

We quite enjoyed this sweet and sour taste.
Jelly Fish are Marinatced with Chinese garlic vinegar and sugar, a layer of seaweed salad at the bottom the dish.

Main - Sauna Beef

One of the shop highly recommended.
If you take a close look on this dish, those aren't black mushrooms as you might though. Have you been to one of the spa rejuvenate treatment? Look familiar? Yes, they are spa stones!

Main - Chilli Chicken

This is a dish every Chinese love. You don't have to visit a Sichuan restaurant to experience this dish because it's widely adapted. Of course, Sichuanese does the best!
If you can handle spicy food, definitely try this one.
Main - Mushroom stir fried with duck liver

Do you love the presentation? I do.....^^
Duck liver compliment greatly with fresh mushroom and capsicums. One of my favorite of the night.
Main - Rabbit diced in Home Made Sichuan Style

It's quite rare to find a rabbit dish in Sydney. Nicely marinated and stirred with bamboo shoots, served in a hotpot.

Overall, the dishes are nice, slightly a bit too salty for my taste.
I do notice the Glebe store serves better food than the city branch. If you want to experience Sichuan food, either one of them are fine.
